Hare Krishna Arcadia Cafe

Posted 6/6/2016

A year and a half after Krishna Cafe Christchurch was abruptly closed by the Christchurch Earthquake, it has reincarnated on the main street of Motueka.  Now known as ‘Arcadia Cafe’, the former Arcadia Organics store has been converted into a haven of Hare Krishna food and culture.

Our popular Christchurch cafe was busier than ever when the earthquake hit on February 23, 2011. Being 12.51pm, it was full of lunch customers enjoying their meal before returning to work. Some enjoyed it so much that they remained seated to finish their meal even after the earthquake had struck!

Now, nestled at the back of an arcade, we are serving the same delicious fare that the people of Christchurch came to love. The Hare Krishna’s specialise in food that is affordable, tastes good and is full of fresh and natural ingredients. We have the added bonus in Motueka of being able to supply the cafe with fresh organic produce grown at our own farm, something we were unable to do in Christchurch city.

On the menu you will find a samosas, $5 meals, $10 meals, sweet treats, kofta balls and the occasional lassi. We are currently working on increasing the menu variety with items such as vegetarian pies, pizzas and more.

Krishna’s Arcadia ticks all the boxes: tasty, healthy, organic, locally grown, and best of all cooked with devotion to Krishna. This last element is the most important and will make you come back again and again for more! We look forward to seeing you there.
